Low prices aren’t the only thing travellers look for these days

When looking for a vacation rental, people often expect glowing reviews, great prices (even lower in the case of non-reward options), and free airport transfers.

Of course, not only finding the best price, but also the best value for money. These days, value for money isn’t just about location and comfort: it’s also about the extras vacationers can get when booking.

Breakfast is the most popular activity among travelers, according to a Booking.com survey of 32,000 people in 32 countries. Almost half (45%) of them are willing to pay for breakfast if they can be sure that it is good.

It’s not just a place to eat croissants, scrambled eggs and cold cuts: vacationers can choose a company if it offers a breakfast made up of quality products, preferably local. People want to see foods they don’t know before in their cupboards at home.

But travelers don’t use their stomachs to think. In search of a complete and fast digital experience, local events and visits are also of interest to them: 26% of travelers are eager to take advantage of these add-ons, especially if they can benefit from money or even free entry.

It is clear that the seller cannot offer a spa or a pool to attract his customers, even if this indoor activity is still liked by 25% of the respondents. These services need to be integrated into the wider tourism ecosystem, in the same way that Airbnb expands its business to include the experiences offered by the community.

Other useful additional services include bus or taxi services (24%) and flexible departures for late check-outs (23%). In short, guests and diners can not only offer comfortable beds or the latest furniture in the room – although that is always good.
