The Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leader has downplayed his colleague’s call for a merger with Warisan.
The call was made in a Facebook post that went viral. The deputy director of PBS Petagas, Ng Tze Tsai, made it clear that the Facebook message of department head Azmi Ahmad, written on September 22, said: “Kasi jadi lah ba, PBS STAR + Warisan, is his opinion that he does not express his own opinion. division or condition of a group.
Any confusion or trouble caused by this is deeply regrettable, he said in a statement today. The Petagas PBS unit reiterates its commitment to support Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) under the leadership of Chief Minister Hajiji Noor.
PBS and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) are part of the GRS, which currently has a majority in the Sabah state assembly. GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH) are now part of the Sabah government.
Although GRS wants to maintain its relationship with PH in the upcoming state elections, Warisan is considering an alliance with other parties, including Umno. Warisan president Shafie Apdal has indicated that the party has the opportunity to work with Umno, although no formal partnership has yet been reached.
